The central theme of “Blue Collar, Black Tie” has always been about experiences; getting to do fun things without spending a lot of money. Costumes from Your Printer
Re-running an article from last year because it’s useful…. It’s the day before Halloween; you didn’t go to any parties over the weekend, you weren’t planning on doing anything special tomorrow, so you didn’t think you needed a costume this year. But you’ve just learned that you’re expected to dress up in costume for work …

Weird LA part 3
On the road with Paul, Koop and Jim…

I can tell you from firsthand experience, it takes almost two minutes to climb the whole thing.

We do not stop playing because we get old…
…we get old because we stop playing. Or so the old saying goes. I think there’s some truth to it. I remember my grandfather at age 90, running down the hall of his apartment building, arms extended, making airplane noises as he flew beside us, a marvelous man-child in all the right ways, and I …

DIY Monday: Tracker-Jacker Nest
Today’s DIY project might come in handy if you happen to have any Hunger Games fans in the family. Aside from writing this blog and working our respective jobs, Terri and I are both archery instructors, and occasionally we run archery parties. Shortly after the Hunger Games film came out, we were asked to host …

Banana Republic in the ’80s
Terri and I have another site outside of Blue Collar, Black Tie; it’s our professional site for our freelance graphic design and marketing business, Lancer Creative Services. I post articles there semi-occasionally, as the mood takes me, talking about various aspects of design and marketing. The most recent such post is a short item about …
